Summer Expedition to the Columbus Zoo!

One of the highlights of our summer was the residents’ outing to the Columbus Zoo. As a celebration for the end of summer, our activity director Angela told our residents she was planning a special trip. She surprised everyone when she revealed they would be traveling to the zoo!

One of the residents that attended the outing, Jeff, said that it was a hot day, but he was happy to see all the animals that were comfortable in the heat. He enjoyed seeing the tigers especially. This was Jeff’s first ever time to the zoo. He said he never went when he was younger, and his children went with the school, so he had never gotten the chance to go.

One unique experience our residents’ enjoyed was feeding the giraffes. They also enjoyed buying souvenirs in the gift shop. One of our residents, Roy, bought a Columbus Zoo hoodie which he plans to wear often in the winter season. During their lunch, our activities department bought everyone a souvenir cup which was refillable. This was the perfect complement to their pizza lunch. Many our residents were able to experience something new during their trip to the zoo, and friendships were made stronger!
